Week 7 Famous Last Words

After a long and busy week with projects, essays, tests, and quizzes, I decided to do the famous last words project since I have a free evening.  This week, I felt like I wrote my best work in the storybook based on your (Laura's) comments and looking back it again on my first submission.  I'm glad I have a break from writing in the storybook though because I feel like anything I would write now would be from a tired, weary me.  The main thing I picked up from this week was that I need to be aware of my word choices in the entire scheme of my writing because I use words pretty repetitively.

In other classes, I have been busier than a one-armed clothes hanger having two group projects, two exams, and a quiz all within this last week.  The one connection I have noticed between this class and my others is that for my class Wellness in Native Communities, we have to use an old story used by Native Americans for a specific food.  The readings I did in there reminded me a lot of how we read through different myths and folk tales for this class.

Outside of school, I managed to finally go home for the weekend after a month or two.  It was good for me to go home and see my family because I normally see them all the time and this long spree of staying in Norman was wearing me out.  I went out and ate with my family and went to the casino with my dad.  My sister and I watched Saturday Night Live and caught up, albeit we did butt heads because she is greedy with the remote and won't let me watch anything.  For the most part however, I just lazed around the house, recuperating from the madness of last week.

  1. Hey Chris,
I absolutely love your template you chose for your blog, I don't remember seeing this one! I'm glad that you survived your hectic week. It's always tough when many assignments, projects, and exams happen to land in the same week. I am slightly jealous you had time to visit your family. I haven't been able to see my family since the summer, however, I'm looking forward to when they will come to Norman for the Kansas State game!

  2. Chris, that cat picture made my day! Animal pictures always get to me. Recently, I've been seeing a lot of pictures of animals in Halloween costumes on social media so that's been exciting. I'm glad to hear that your storybook is going well! I'm also glad that you were able to use your weekend to recover from a crazy week! Lazing around is always nice.

  3. I must say that I feel your pain right now. Though I didn't have as many things to do as you did, I did have a few really big assignments due. I know how relaxing going home after such a long time can be. Especially when there is an excited kitty cat with you or happy to see you! By the way, I LOVE the picture of that kitty! I have two cats and love them so much! I wish I lived in a place in Norman that let me have my cat with me! I hope things start calming down for you soon! Love the layout of your page by the way!

  4. I feel that at this point of the semester we are all feeling a lag. Anytime I have a few free minutes, I savor the crap out of it. I also share your content with not having to write a new story, for our Storybooks, each week. I like that we have a week to sort of relax a little, and are able to go back and review our work. I have never really been a cat person, but your cat is SO adorable.

  6. Chris,
I think Laura is a great instructor for this course. She is always super encouraging and offers a lot of positive feedback to the stories I write, and by the sound of it, she does the same for you. It really makes the class a whole lot more enjoyable when you hear someone say great things about your work.

  7. Chris,

I definitely feel your pain with being overwhelmed by school. Between the labs I have weekly, studying for tests, and the other homework I have it seems like all my free time is eaten up. It is nice to have a break this week from writing, the quality of my writing has been declining as my stress has been increasing.

  8. Hey Chris, your week’s seven sounds like my entire life this semester. It is exams and essays after the other. It is never ending. I will be happy once this semester is over with. In fact I will be happy once I graduate. But hey on the bright side you got to go back home. I will be going back home in December after a year. Good luck with school.
